From my Heart... II

Hi my name is Katherine and I have been "hard working" free now for about 40 days.

Over the past 11 years I have been able to recognize in myself where I have been addicted to being right, addicted to the fight (and winning it!) and this last year, 2024, I can see where I was addicted to hard work.

"nothing worth having ever comes easy" was a "hidden value & principle" that I lived by. This was a tricky one for me to let go of because hard work does get you ahead, the willingness to never give up, never give in and never quit is a HUGE STRENGTH. However it can also be very destructive, as any tool can, when not used in creative way.

Our family adventure to Kauai really showed me PEACE & MAGIC in a whole new way - I felt like I was getting it on a cellular level.

Since our trip, my values have changed. I have been putting PEACE & LOVE ahead of MONEY & HARD WORK. It has been extremely uncomfortable, I was feeling lost and uncertain..... Everything in my life is now growing from / as / with peace & love. How I experience everything is different.... I would love to share what I can with you in words what Kauai changed for me <3

The moment we landed in Kauai I could feel it!

The peace, the calm, the kindness, the gratitude….. I have NEVER EVER  felt this so strongly anywhere else before.

There was a bit of a rigor-marol finding our rental vehicle in the parking lot at midnight - in the dark - totally new place.  We weren’t anxious about it though, I knew it was there somewhere….  If we didn’t find it, I had this feeling we would be OK, we would figure it out and get to the Airbnb condo no problem.  THEN we found the rental! YAY!

I was very glad to be driving to our condo, for the first time, in the middle of the night.  The island was quiet, there was no traffic, it was easy to drive.  We found the condo easily - found a parking spot - no problem. I was beginning to feel like there was magic working with us, behind the scenes.  Like we were being taken care of and “led” to where we needed to be.

It amazed me how “contactless” entries work these days, lol.  We got into the condo without ever speaking to the person we rented it from. We communicated over email and text.  It worked very well! A smooth, easy process.

The first night we all hit the hay, happy, exhausted and excited for the next day.

Everyone had a pretty good sleep, the beds were comfy, the climate control worked great and I was absolutely elated to walk out onto the balcony and SEE THE OCEAN!
SO MAGNIFICENT AND GLORIOUS!

Coffee and Breakfast were at the top of our list that first morning.  We ventured out and found a restaurant called “The Kountry Kitchen”.  It was close, looked good and so delicious! When we got the cheque I knew we wouldn’t be eating there everyday for breakfast lol, I think it was $180 usd - gulp - but I was glad we experienced it.  It was worth it and VERY VERY GOOD!

Next we found a grocery store and bought some staples for the condo.

Then we headed back to unpack groceries and get into the ocean!

Right out front of our condo was a swimming area, with beach chairs and all the things.  Plus, our condo came with a tonne of beach supplies too. (Which we ended up loading up into the back of our rental and literally everyday we would find and explore a new beach! Highly recommend renting an suv for this purpose.)

The ocean was so good! It felt so nurturing and healing.  I really love being in water, especially the ocean.  The kids had a blast body surfing!  Later on the first day we ventured out to a farmers market.  I wanted to get my hands on some fresh fruit!

Again I really noticed that the VIBE on the island was pretty chill, relaxed, and in no hurry.  The speed limits were often 40mph and no one was rushing to pass you.  It was so different than we are used to, REALLY REALLY NICE!

Driving to the farmers market, I had google maps to guide me, but I never felt uncertain and I felt like I JUST KNEW where to turn, where to park, where to go.  It was so cool and so strong!

The Farmers market was great and did not disappoint - delicious pineapple, bananas, papaya, YUMMMM!

The next day, The kids and hubby were out exploring around the grounds.  They came across a HEIAU…. Sacred grounds, the location of a Hawaiian temple.  This was right along the ocean, right next to our condo complex.  Imagine that?!

There are only 5 Heiau on the island of Kauai and what are the odds that we would be staying right next to one! Once we discovered this area, I started to spend time there everyday, especially in the mornings. I would go down there and watch the sunrise over the ocean.  The energy there was strong and peaceful.  One morning I saw dolphins playing out in the ocean! And I was sure I saw some whale blows too!  One thing I had my heart set on was to see a whale.  I never told hubby or the kids “out loud” but this was one of my personal asks on this trip.  We did book a tour on the Blue Dolphin Charter boat for later in the week.

The next morning we were driving along the coast to the North end of the island. There were people pulled over at a lookout.  We stopped to see what the attraction was.  Sure enough, there was whales.  We didn’t get to see them come out of the water, but we saw them blowing! SO COOL! Being in the energy was indescribable!

Right then and there I asked “the island” to show me more magic and show me more whales.

Our Boat tour ended up being canceled due to bad weather, which I was ok with as I would rather it be totally canceled than be borderline and not have good weather.  The day our boat tour was supposed to be, we explored a new part of the island.  The weather was gorgeous! That’s another thing I noticed is that parts of the island would experience different weather and literally everyday, everywhere we went, we were in the sun!  Only to return back to our condo or hear about “rain and wind” on another part of the island.  Not that rain and wind is bad, but we sure enjoyed the sunshine!  This also felt like magic at work!

We are getting into the second half of our time on Kauai, and we head back to one of our favorite beaches for the afternoon.  It wasn’t too busy, just nice.  I am watching the kids catch waves with their boogie boards.  THEN…. Out of nowhere I SEE A WHALE JUMP AND BREACH not very far away!!!!!!! It surprised me and got me so excited!!!!!

I am intensely watching, hoping to see it again….. I see a blow….. I SEE A TAIL!!!!

I had goosebumps!

I could kinda see they were swimming away, with their blows and their water activity.  I couldnt stop smiling! I was thinking, one more time! Show me one more time! And left it at that ask.  I was walking over to the bathroom, and when I came out and looked over at the ocean, THERE WAS ONE MORE WHALE THAT BREACHED! I was in awe, and so grateful to see another <3

JUST WOW!

The next few mornings, as I am up by myself, with my coffee on the deck and then at the HEIAU….just me, the island and the ocean.  I am asking to live my life as this everyday.  I am asking to bring this island magic home with me.  To live from and as this peace, relaxation, and magic, EVERYDAY.

Our last day on the island we drove to the Waimea canyon.  It’s truly Breathtaking! There was a huge, bright rainbow stretching across the canyon when we got to one of the lookout points - MAGIC.  As we climbed the canyon, the lookouts were of the Nepali coast side of the island.  It was foggy and misting….. However when we walked to the lookout, the clouds and mist lifted for afew mins so we could see the magnificence.  TRULY MAGICAL! Like there was no denying that something was at work, “behind the scenes” for us.

There was one restaurant that was on my list to experience while on the island.  The Kalaheo Cafe.  It was ALWAYS busy when we drove past.  I thought about making reservations, but wasn’t sure when we would be done with the canyon tour and didn't want to feel rushed. Then it popped.  I asked the island to make a reservation for us! For when we drove past at the end of our canyon tour, whenever that would be.  Sure enough, when we drove by, the parking lot was half empty. About a half hour after we arrived, the restaurant was very busy….. But we got a table! MAGIC! This dining experience was definitely one of the best on the island.

After our meal we still had a few hours to kill before we needed to be at the airport.  I remembered one of the people we were visiting told us about the sunset at poipu beach.  We hadn’t experienced that yet - the beach was on the way to the airport - I suggested we head over there to check that out.  Hubby looked at me funny and laughed because he didn't think we would make it in time to see the sunset.  I knew it would be close, let's try, we have nothing else to do.  Little did we know, it wasn’t the sunset there that would amaze us….. After we parked and walked onto the beach, there were about 20 sea turtles laying on the beach and more coming in!  They had the area kind of blocked off, there weren't too many people, we could see them really well! It was so amazing! This was the only beach on the island that these sea turtles will come to and rest.  Sometimes up to 50/60 of them! The energy of these turtles was extremely peaceful and calm.  It was so beautiful and serene.  We did miss the sunset, but the stars were shining, the ocean was calm and there were sea turtles!  Then a little while later a sea lion came up onto the other side of the beach for his rest.  SO COOL! There was a few people who come out to volunteer on the beach at night.  They keep people from getting too close so the animals can have their space.  We visited with them for abit and they were happy to share their knowledge and experience about the turtles, sea lions and the island.  IT WAS GREAT! Truly, the most magical experience for our last evening on this amazing island.

None of us were sad to leave, (even though we didn’t really want to lol), Our experience was so rich and full! I asked everyday to bring kauai home with me.  We all talked about what we wanted to do the next time we visited this island - whenever that will be, I’m not sure yet.  I knew this wasn’t the end - IT WAS THE BEGINNING of something different, A life that’s more peaceful.  Experiencing the richness of this island has literally changed me forever and I am so grateful!

Kauai invited me to let go of control, to let go of having to understand everything, to let go of stress, to let go of force and effort.

Kauai showed me there’s a strong universal energy (spirit, god, magic) that works “behind the scenes” and will support you, if you let it, if you trust it.

It has been 9 months and my life is so different now.  The magic is still with us, there have been many magical moments that have shown up since being home that have left me in awe.

I am exploring peace, love, kindness within myself, growing my life from these energies that I experienced.  It’s uncomfortable, I don’t know what’s coming next, but I am really enjoying it!!! I am trusting and I am allowing <3

✨ Grateful for you ✨
Have an amazing day, wherever you are, whatever you are up to....
What can you let go of today?!
